BROWN CRAYON CLUB — TERMS & CONDITIONS

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Brown Crayon Club is operated by Material Work LLC ("we," "us"). By buying a visit pass, membership, gift membership or private party, or by entering the studio, you agree to these terms for yourself and for any minor you bring.

1. VISIT PASSES

  • Each Visit Pass is good for one person, for one hour of Open Arts & Craft Time during open studio hours. That includes the day's guided project and open studio time.

  • Open hours change from day to day and are posted on the calendar at www.browncrayonclub.com.

  • Passes can be bought online or at the door. Online passes are not tied to a date and can be used during any open hour.

2. CAPACITY

  • The studio fits 15 people at a time. Entry is first come, first served for everyone, including members and pass holders.

  • On busy days you may need to wait for a seat. We may limit entry when the studio is full.

3. MEMBERSHIPS

  • Memberships are personal and non-transferable. One person per membership.

  • Members don't need to book. Drop in any time during open studio hours, subject to capacity.

  • Members must check in at the door and may be asked to show ID.

  • Memberships cover the member only. Guests need their own Visit Pass.

  • We may suspend or end a membership if it's misused or the studio rules are broken. If we end it, we'll refund any unused prepaid period.

4. PURCHASES, RENEWALS, REFUNDS & CREDITS

  • Visit Passes: non-refundable and can't be redeemed for cash. Passes do not expire.

  • Monthly Memberships: renew automatically each month on your billing date until you cancel. Cancel anytime before your next billing date through your customer account or by emailing bcc@material.nyc. Cancelling stops future charges. We don't refund the current month or partial months.

  • Annual Memberships: renew automatically each year on your billing date until you cancel. We'll email you a reminder before your renewal. Cancel anytime to stop your next renewal. Annual payments are non-refundable.

  • Annual Membership Gifts: valid for 12 months from the recipient's first visit and do not renew. Non-refundable and can't be redeemed for cash. Gifts don't expire within the period New York law requires.

  • Credits: any studio credit we issue can only be used at Brown Crayon Club, can't be exchanged for cash, and does not expire.

  • If we close unexpectedly: unused Visit Passes stay valid. For a private party we cancel, you'll get a full refund or a credit, whichever you prefer.

  • Any refund outside this policy is at our discretion.

5. PRIVATE PARTIES

  • Private parties are 90 minutes, for up to 15 guests total. Kids and adults both count toward the 15.

  • When you buy a party, you request a date and time. We'll confirm within 24 hours. If we can't fit your requested date and you don't choose another, you'll get a full refund.

  • Cancel at least 72 hours before your party for a studio credit. Later cancellations and no-shows are forfeited.

  • You're welcome to bring cake and snacks. Please clean up food and drinks before you leave.

  • The person who books the party is responsible for their guests' conduct, for supervising minors, and for letting guests know about these terms.

6. MINORS

  • Anyone under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who stays on site and supervises them the whole time.

  • Minors aged 15–17 may attend on their own. A parent or guardian must accept these terms on their behalf.

  • The adult who brings or buys for a minor accepts these terms on the minor's behalf and is responsible for the minor's conduct and safety.

7. STUDIO RULES

  • Put phones away. This is a phone-free space.

  • Treat people, supplies, and the space with care.

  • Use tools and materials only as intended. Scissors, glue, paint and small parts can be hazardous, so use them carefully. Small items like beads are choking hazards for young children.

  • We may ask anyone who is unsafe, disruptive or disrespectful to leave, without a refund or credit.

8. MATERIALS, ALLERGIES & HEALTH

  • Our supplies may contain or have touched latex, dyes, fragrances, adhesives and other substances. We can't guarantee any material is allergen-free.

  • You're responsible for knowing your own sensitivities and those of any minor in your care, and for deciding whether to participate.

  • Please don't come in if you're sick.

9. ASSUMPTION OF RISK & RELEASE

  • Arts and crafts involve some risk, including cuts, burns, stains, spills, allergic reactions, slips and damage to clothing or belongings.

  • You take part voluntarily and accept these risks.

  • To the fullest extent the law allows, you release Material Work LLC, Brown Crayon Club, and their owners, staff and agents from claims arising from your participation, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the pass, membership or party involved.

10. PERSONAL PROPERTY

  • We aren't responsible for lost, stolen or damaged belongings, or for clothing stained by paint, dyes or glue. Wear clothes that can get messy.

  • You're responsible for damage you or a minor in your care cause to studio property, beyond normal wear.

11. PHOTOS

  • We may take photos in the studio for our website and marketing materials.

  • If you don't want yourself or your child to appear, tell us at check-in or email bcc@material.nyc, and we won't use those images.

12. CHANGES

  • We may update these terms, prices, hours and policies.

  • Changes apply to future purchases and renewals. We'll notify members of material changes before their next billing date.

13. GOVERNING LAW

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.

  • If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
